The “Freiwilliges Sozialjahr” targets mostly teenagers and young adults, offering them the possibility to take a look at the social sector, making first experiences and strengthening their own social competences. General information about the FSJs, access to specific projects and announced tasks comes with a high threshold and great bureaucratic burden for all persons involved. The FJS app simplifies this access significantly. In close collaboration with teenagers and young adults, design and functionality has been tailored to their needs. They are supported during the search and can get insights into different areas of social work. A peer-to-peer model makes sure that informational needs of teenagers and young adults are fulfilled in the explanatory texts. This way the FSJ app manages to create a possibility of accessing new groups of volunteers for non-profit organisations.
